It is probably a problem with Proxies. You need to re-set the proxies on both the PC and the Mac.

Re: Slowness in Bromley, Kent
Which model Pace? The 1000 and 2000 series can only do 1 to 1.5 meg anyway.

Re: Slowness in Bromley, Kent
I think it has to be something else other than proxies, I notice on the ntl sever status page the work that they were meant to be finished doing last week is still not finished...... hmmmmmmmmm

Re: Slowness in Bromley, Kent
Oh and before you lot even say it. No its not my network, as i just hardwired my main pc direct into the ntl STB and not through router and still same speeds, even after rebooting stb with it connected to pc

Re: Slowness in Bromley, Kent
Bromley, BR2
My wife's been complaining about the speed of the internet for about a month and has just got me to come up and try it - hotmail.com is unuseable at the moment, but this forum is lightning fast.
I'll try swapping proxies, but that doesn't sound like a proper solution - what speed test are you using? I'll try it here over the next week, might try and automate it so it can run while I'm in work as well. Then I can give the logs to NTL and they can explain what the problem is (if they can be bothered to keep my custom).

Re: Slowness in Bromley, Kent
I can noe confirm that a friend in BR6 is having exactly the same problem. Started about 4 weeks ago.
According to NTL tech support the problem, and I'm quoting "has been caused by over-subscription to the service"

Re: Slowness in Bromley, Kent
I too have been having this problem (BR3) . Just rebooted my modem, got the 2mg to 4 mg upgrade and it seems to have solved slow loading pages.
