STB to Cable Modem question
On Saturday NTL are coming out to take away two set top boxes and install a cable modem, as I'm currently on the 3MB connection and its being upgraded to 10MB.
What I'd like to know is, is it as simple as swapping out the set top box in my room which currently provides the internet and changing it to a cable modem, or will they need to renew cabling for the modem?
The cable comes from the front of the house, and upstairs and then through the wall into this room, so it'd be a nightmare if they had to re-cable it just for the modem.
Also, the way I have it set up now, STB > 4 port router > 3 PC's
Will I be able to do the same with the cable modem, as I've heard they are USB only? I don't fancy having one PC on all the time just so it can share the connection.
If anyone can let me know, thanks!
