BB Plus access problem with Samsung STB

About a year back, I had a PACE replaced by Samsung. I previously had BBPlus, but with the Samsung, it failed to work. At the time I reported to Cust Serv, but they said all the account settings looked ok. Rather than paying £3.99, I cancelled the BBPlus service, hoping that I could re-register. That didn't work either.

Now it's no cost for 2Mb/s users, I'd like it working again!

When I click on www.ntlworld.com/broadbandplus, it sends me to http://portal.broadbandplus.ntlworld...allCenter.aspx

Not much else to report.

Other possible relevant info:
  • I'm in Surrey on the Leatherhead NTL branchline, I believe that's "Bromley" variant
  • Samsung STB with 2Mb/s service
  • I have a Linksys router this side of the STB
  • Running PC with IE6 & Firefox as well as Apple Safari & Firefox
  • No software firewall (NAT in the router). I've changed the IE security settings to Low, but no difference.
Thanks in anticipation.

Regards, Bill

Re: BB Plus access problem with Samsung STB

I'm on 10Mb through a Samsung too and when I tried to sign up just now I got this:

Due to technical difficulties we are currently unable to register an account for you. We are working on the problem and hope to resolve it shortly. Please try again later.

I think its a known fault.....

Re: BB Plus access problem with Samsung STB

The BB Plus would have been registered to the MAC Address of your old Pace STB and so will not work on your Samsung. I dont know of a way of getting this changed, perhaps CS can do it? I never tried BB Plus til I got my Samsung STB so it works fine.

Re: BB Plus access problem with Samsung STB

Zeph,

Thanks for the response. That's the kind of thing I thought it would be. The CS people don't have a mechanism to de-register one STB and allow the new one to register. I was passed on to tech support once (after a long wait) and they said they didn't support BBPlus.

This must be a common problem with STB replacements.

Bill
