??.com referrer??

Hi...Does anyone know why I need a"referrer" to register for>>.com<<??.
When filling in the registration form you/I have to give the name of the person that referred you/I to the site...It is no good trying to put in any old name cos it comes back"name not found".."proper" answers appreciated!!...and I do have a good reason to register!!!

very interesting.i never had to have a refferer when i joined.i wonder how long this has been happening?

anyone else know anything about this?

leavig the field blank is a no-no...must be filled in...anyone happy to let me enter their name??..be interesting to see if you are contacted!!??

I've just looked at the registration for .com and cant see this referrer field ??

Register>>quick>>first field under preferences..
cannot be by-passed.

I am eating pot loads of humble pie!!!!!!.
It was me putting rubbish into a "option" field...Sorry.
[any chance when ntli.info is up and running some-one could write an idiots guide to forum registration????]

ps...very lonely standing in this corner...and the dunces cap falls over my eyes!!

Aww what a shame that we've come to the bottom of it - I was looking forward to another thread going on about how it must be a conspiracy on NTL's part to see who talks to who etc

Well, it's an NTL site, so my best guess is it's 'coming soon'.
