Angry ntlworld email addys.........

...not receiving their mail.
Hi all, new member here. I'm hoping someone can help me.
Although NTL is my service provider, i use a hotmail.co.uk addy for my main e mail.
The problem i have is that whenever i send e mail to either a single ntlworld address or several (when sending to multiple addresses), i always get a delivery status notification e mail back. This always states - "Unable to deliver message to the following recipients, due to being unable to connect successfully to the destination mail server".
I have no problem sending e mails to the ntlworld addy's from my own ntlworld account, and i have also had someone else with an hotmail.co.uk account send messages to my intended recipients and they have been received ok.
Ive spoken to NTL tech support and the very helpful advice i got was "have you checked your setting on OE for outgoing mail?".
Whilst i have a limited knowledge of the internet, i do believe the problem is with the ntl server not accepting e mails from my .co.uk account, which is sent directly from hotmail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks.

Re: ntlworld email addys.........

What account are you sending from and to where?
I can safely say that Ntlworld servers accept hotmail as I redirect all my emails from my ntlworld account to my hotmail and/ or gmail accounts.
How long has this problem been going on for?

Re: ntlworld email addys.........

I would think that would depend on what is wrong with the email service itself. If the server itself is knackered then there won't be anything to relay the email. If it's just the frontend portal that is playing up then yes the server should still send the mail on even if you cannot get into your inbox.

Re: ntlworld email addys.........

Paul, I am sending them from my hotmail.co.uk account to various ntlworld.com addresses. I also send them to many other addresses but there is no problem with anyone else receiving mail sent. I have also sent messages from my ntlworld.com account (i presently use ntl BB) to the intended addresses and they get through ok. I can only presume that the ntl server in this area (bournemouth) will not accept e mails from hotmail.co.uk.

Re: ntlworld email addys.........

Or it may be that the junk filter on the email server is being tripped. I take it that anyone else sending from hotmail.co.uk addresses are succeeding in gettting to your inbox?

Sorry paul, not with you re the first sentence (bit dim)
Ive not actually had anyone try sending to me from a hotmail.co.uk addy as i dont know anyone personally that has one. It's just that i was told by someone who did not receive my mails, had received them from someone else with a co.uk addy. I have tried sending mail from the hotmail account to my ntlworld addy and that doesn't appear to work either. Does this help?

Re: ntlworld email addys.........

How are you checking your NTL email account? Through the webmail interface or through software?
Can you quickly send yourself an email and post the exact, full error message you receive.

Re: ntlworld email addys.........

Errr, I get my ntl mail through Outlook express. I never get an instant reply back to my hotmail address when sending to ntlworld addy's, but its generally quite a few hours and even days before i get this back ----> From '<postmaster@mil.hotmail.com>' and when opened ----> This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.
Unable to deliver message to the following recipients, due to being unable to connect successfully to the destination mail server.

P.S. Thanks for your time in trying to help with this. Much appreciated.

Re: ntlworld email addys.........

I know it's a silly question but you have checked that the stored address that you are sending your emails to is correct haven't you? I've mis-typed addresses myself without realising and not found out until I've tried to send emails.
Have you tried sending the email via the Hotmail website? It would take Outlook express out of the equation and help eliminate it as an issue.

Re: ntlworld email addys.........

Paul, i think that maybe i'm not explaining this right (sorry, not too hot with tech speak re pc's).
All the ntl addy's are taken from my address book. I do not use OE at all if i can help it because i only use my ntlworld addy sparingly. All e mails i send are sent from the .co.uk addy, and OE is only used to check my ntlworld account.
The problems have arisen since i moved from my old hotmail.com addy (getting too much spam) to hotmail.co.uk. Since moving, and using the NEW .co.uk account as my main addy, i get the 'unable to deliver' message from EVERY ntlworld addy that i try to send to. I have no problem sending e mail to any other e mail address in my address book.

Re: ntlworld email addys.........

I'm wondering if this is a result of MS removing normal 'pop' access to recently registered hotmail.co.uk accounts ???

- MrMeldrew, do you use the smtp.ntlworld server for outgoing mail, or hotmails???

Re: ntlworld email addys.........

I always use hotmail. The only time i open OE (very rarely) is to check if i have any messages in my ntlworld addy, which again is rare, because i dont give the addy to anyone.

Re: ntlworld email addys.........

At least two of the servers used by hotmail.co.uk are still SORBS blasklisted:
http://www.senderbase.org/search?sea...ng=65.54.185.6
http://www.senderbase.org/search?sea...g=65.54.185.12

I received the following from hotmail support on the 24 October 20:
Quote:
