USB To Ethernet

I've tried moving to Ethernet from USB a number of times but it never works.

Ive done the suggested power cycle where i have shut down pc and modem, then removed usb and installed ethernet. Then i turned on the modem and powered it up. Then powered up the pc. I gets a 169 ip and the pc does not connect to the PC.

I have a 100 Cable Modem.

I dont want to call ntl becuase for the past three days download speed has been 35kb/s and they aint doing nothing about that,

Re: USB To Ethernet

Do the lights on the PC's network card and also the modem light as expecte. Are you happy the ethernet cable is OK. Have you got correct drivers for the network card? Are settings for the NIC and connections automatic and enabled?
