NTL Boardband random disconnect - Plz help

Hi

I've read through the forum and noticed many people have similar problems as i do, but i haven't seen a perfect solution to my problem.

Let me explain my situation, im with NTL and i have 2mb broadband and it keeps disconnecting itself and its random, the disconnection only last for about 1-2 mins, i know its not long but i can get disconnected up to at least 20 times in one day and im sick of it.

When the problem happens first i lose total connection from the internet, then the ready light on the modem will start to flash, as i said above this will last about 1-2mins then it will become stable and i have connection back. The problem happenes when im playing online based games, downloading things, surfing the net, and even if im not using the PC (i.e watching the TV), i notice it disconnect because i can hear the MSN messenger relog back in.

This problem i've been having started around (let me think) at least 5-6 months ago and i had about 6 engineers to come and TRY to fix it, only 2 of those enginners try to do something to fix it, one gave me a new modem and the other enginner increased my downstream. Both things seem to help it but that only lasted a week and the problem returned.

I have:
Windows XP
anti-virus/firewall
Wireless route (problem happens with/without router connected)
2mb NTL boardband
in the northampton area

If anybody knows a good solution to pinpoint the problem please i beg to the good people of this forum HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! before i throw my cable modem out of my bedroom window .

Darren

Re: NTL Boardband random disconnect - Plz help

The crucial part of your report is that the modem READY light starts to flash. This indicates that the problem lies within NTL's cable network, and you need to report that issue to NTL Technical Support. There is nothing that your own equipment can do that can provoke this condition, and nothing you can do to ameliorate it other than getting NTL in.
