Angry NTL Mis-selling.

Hi....

I've just changed from Sky having been with them since the first analogue test transmissions. My reciever was playing up and rather than buy another one I decided to change to NTL and take advantage of the discount that I would get already having phone and broadband with NTL.

I spoke at great length with the sales dept and was sold on the idea of the VOD system which I was explained to me in great detail. I was advised to read more info on the "TV as it was meant to be" on the ntl web site which I did with great care. I followed all the links which extolled the virtues of this system including the postcode check which gave me the good news "congratulations you are in an on demand enabled area".

BUT I'M NOT.......

When the rubbish box was installed and I couldn't see any reference to the VOD system the engineer said not to worry as the software will take some time to completely load.

BUT I'M STILL NOT.......
2 weeks on and I now find that LE4, despite being told after much complaing and ringing different departments that all users ould be 'enabled' by Christmas, now I find that LE4 'should' be running during the first 3 months of 2006.

When I cancelled my Sky subscription I was offered a plethora of inducements to stay with them including a free Sky + box and 6 months free subscription plus multiroom conections free. In addition £10 per month off my current subscription for 2 years. I SAID NO THANK YOU.

When I complained to NTL customer service no-one would accept the mis-selling idea, as no-one would accept responsibility for the info on the web site. All I was asked by one very rude customer services rep was " I don't want to listen to you any more do you want us to take the system out". After a further short exchange of views this man hung up the phone.

Can I ask any other users to who are not VOD enabled to follow the web page links to the "tv as it was meant to be "
claims fill in their postcode and see if they too are "congratulated cos you've got it".

I am not a happy chappie at the moment and am looking for any other evidence of mis-selling, mis-representation etc. to take this lot to the cleaners.

Re: NTL Mis-selling.

You must be mad to say no to sky with all those offers!

NTL ARE CRAP!

just reading through these forums you can see that as I would say 90% of posts are reporting faults or some type of complaint.....

I know when my contract is up i'm going begging to sky!

Even if NTL are the only company in my area doing 10MB BB, still ain't worth all the crap they dish out with their lies and excuses let alone some of the rude CS reps they have!

Re: NTL Mis-selling.

Erm this forum was set up to help people with NTL related problems, it has since expanded to helping across a wider scope of problems. You will undoubtedly find that 90% of posts within the NTL sections are complaints as that is what a lot of people come here to seek help with.

Re: NTL Mis-selling.

I think I have read on here that out of ntl's 3 million or so customers there are only about 3% that are unhappy with the services that they get???

Re: NTL Mis-selling.

You will find the same old people on here who are quick to jump in to defend them!

They are the staff or mods of this board!

&

NTL staff who use this board and belive it or not the odd satisfied customer yes it's true there are one or two of them out there somewhere!

Ohhhh and don't get me wrong this site does a great job of helping people I don't question that, and the people who mod this site also do a great job. it is just a shame that a company's customers needs a third party website to get the help and support or even their problems resolved when it should be the company doing it in the first place!

Re: NTL Mis-selling.

My comment was not ment to dis this site in anyway!

And I was refering to the NTL section of this board and not on a whole when I said 90% etc......

NTL are a rubish company when it comes to offering help and support and their customer service agents are just simply a joke. (Bar a few & I mean a few. and you only get to talk to them if your luky!)

Unless you come here to find them!

This is what I said:

And to be honest I would not take a word of faith in any praises made about any company if they came from an employee or from somebody that offeres a service that is in relation to that company! and I mean any company not just NTL!

To be honest NTL would be so much better if only they employed more people like the ones they already have that use these boards and give help and support when they should after all be at home with their feet up in their spare time!

Re: NTL Mis-selling.

I'm not sure how this is helping floppus with his problem

btw floppus

I think he would prefer suggestions on how to communicate his grievance, rather than rants about customers service

lol - furry nuff

I wondered whether floppus might get any joy using the responsetek thingy

http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/forumdisplay.php?f=81

- especially as he feels there is a wider issue of the way VOD is being sold to the customer - he has a very good point about the post code checker, for example..

<edit> oops, may have to wait a while for responsetek

I beg your pardon.

Get your facts right before you make sweeping statements about me please.

I wouldn't disagree with you.

IMO ntl will never change, & they will certainly never lead the field when it comes to great customer service.

They have too many managers who hide from customers, & too many top level managers who don't even know what a customer is.
