Re: Thinking about buying a laptop
First things first. what do you need the laptop to do? It's all very well trying to get something within a budget, but if that budget is inadequate, you better off waiting and saving until you can afford what you need.

Re: Thinking about buying a laptop
Does it need to connect (intergrate) into an office domain? Win XP Home can't do that. I can't see that it has a wireless card, essential these days for any lappy.
I'd have a look around the net for any product reviews. You might want to enquire of expected battery life.

No it will be used at home, the title says it has 802.11g but you're right it doesn't mention it in the details, maybe i should look elsewhere but i've had a lot of stuff off scan in the past and they have always been ok

Re: Thinking about buying a laptop
Letters etc, does that mean it needs Word and Outlook to be boss friendly? Who is paying for the software?
Will it be based at home or will you be carting it around?

Re: Thinking about buying a laptop
Are you planning to connect to the net wired or wirelessly, does the budget include the cost of a wireless router if you don't have one?

Re: Thinking about buying a laptop
I would advise going to dell outlet, these are laptops which have been returned for some reason or other, wrong spec, wrong computer, breakdown, but are fully restored and tested
you can pick up a real bargain with full 3 year onsite warranty, i got a inspiron xps gen2 and saved myself over £900 and i couldnt be happier, you might get more for your money
