Computer does not respond, not hang.
My problem is sometimes my mouse does not respond to the interface and i have to press ctrl alt + del and without doing anything at all, press the x button and my browser or program will gain back "blue colour" instead of unresponsive gray shade. I presume this problem is solved when i'm starting another application using keyboard and not my mouse.
What is the problem here? Lately when i opened limewire or any other java program, my clicking does not respond anything. The mouse still moves and everything but when i clicked one of the tab for example, nothing happened. This is happening a lot whether on java or not and is a very annoying program.
Right now, it doesn't even want to click ok on one of the java certificate i needed to accept.
Another unrelated problem is my computer/monitor behaviour who seems to be shutting itself down every so often without me touching anything. The fan is still running so it's not a case of computer being turn off. It's just that out of a sudden the monitor went blank and the only thing worth doing is by pressing the little reset button. This happens quite a lot too.
Damn, i hope i made sense in all this writing. I'm too tired to even write properly. Thanks for future replies.

Re: Computer does not respond, not hang.
What mouse is it? What operating system?
Have you tried re-installing the mouse software at all if it came with some? If you are running XP do you see any errors in the event viewer? With the problems you are seeing all at the same time I'm wondering if a repair installation might be useful.

Re: Computer does not respond, not hang.
Sounds like driver corruption, what O/S are you running and have you tried re-installing the sound drivers too?

Omg, it's a great feeling when you managed to figure out something yourself!
Any idea about the monitor problem? It left me completely stumped and so does all the technicians i met online.

go to start, control panel, display, screen saver tab, click on power, under where it says : settings for home/office desk power scheme, using drop down arrow "turn off monitor" select never, click apply, see if that helps?

Nope, it's already on never and i'm pretty sure i've looked at that before.
Thanks anyway. I guess i'll just live with it seems the problem is kinda rare and i doubt anyone here will get a practical solution. My guess is that there is some weird power connection in the cpu that sometimes get loose or something...i dunno...

Re: Computer does not respond, not hang.
Are you powering the monitor from the main computer tower,( some towers let you power up your monitor this way) or is it wired seperately to it's own mains lead?
If it's off the main PSU on the tower system, maybe time to replace it (the PSU in the tower), they're cheap enough now.

Sorry, went to bed early last night as I'd been up since 5.45 because of work.
Sounds like you are doing well finding your drivers, you might want to install your graphics card/ chipset drivers again. Do you know what model/ make of computer it is or what graphics chipset you are running?
If not, try installing and running this and it will help identify the components.

Re: Computer does not respond, not hang.
Open case and make sure gfx card is firmly installed check all leads and connections. If problem persists as Atlantis said try a psu (I would borrow one off a friend if it happens often as you said you wont need to check for long)It could also be a power problem in the the gfx.Seems like a strange one,Reinstall direct x maybe
