On my routers list it has turned up an IP for PNEWS! anyone know what this is???

How often does it turn up? The ip address itself would be useful but it could just be a news servers that hasn't been secured properly.
Could be this site?

Erm isn't that an internal network address? Have you checked for spyware, trojan, virus activity lately?
Try opening a command prompt and type
netstat /a
and see what ports are active.

Probably won't show as active for pnews, are any ports active that shouldn't be? I would close all browser windows and any emai or messenger tools and see what still remains active in netstat. Are you running a software firewall too or are you relying on the router?

In that case it might be an idea to do a few scans of the PCs on your network, particularly the one showing the IP address in your router log. Might just be a toolbar or something requesting information.
