Why is this happening with my PC
Over the last 5-6 months my computr has dropped dll files system files i.e system32 folder, program files and drivers. So having been fed up with keep sortingthe same problems out i format the harddrive and start from scratch although this seems to solve the problem for a while it doesn't stop it from happening.
I have checked the harddrive for bad sectors etc and have found none.
I am constantly checking that everything is upto date and if not updating it, but nether the less it happens.
ANY IDEAS

Re: Why is this happening with my PC
The HD is faulty or you have some form of virus which is chucking it.
You've reformatted so I would hint at the former...

Re: Why is this happening with my PC
Checked this myself and had Scan computers check the HD for me and they found no faults either

Err, it's LOSING FILES after reformats that's enough to convince me.
If someone had called with the same info as you I'd have booked them a new one by now.

Re: Why is this happening with my PC
I am using Mcafee internet security suite 2005 and believe me my computer is that secure knowing all my own detils i have tried to crack it from family computers and get nowhere. As for virus i haven't found one ever but i was wondering if one had settled in my memory could this cause the effects i have had?

Re: Why is this happening with my PC
I agree with the mass here sounds like a duff HD why not get a cheapish one something like a 20gb to test the theory if Scan are being weird.
I am sure you could explain to them you believe it to be a fault which is not showing as a bad sector, they should replace it.
As for a virus to behave the same after a reformat is strange unless your using a app which contains is.

Re: Why is this happening with my PC
Could do, but not after formatting.
I'd say it's faulty...

What would cause this if the mother board was the problem?

Dodgy IDE controller- though I'd check the write caching first.

Re: Why is this happening with my PC
No i haven't got write caching on, but i do know that member of family from abroad was here using it a few times when i was out. Now don't get me wrong i like the guy but everytime he was on it and i came to use it i was having to change stuff back that he had been into, and i do know he has his own IT business. But i have since found out he flashed my bios to update apparantly could this cause any of the problems i have been having?
