Angry NTL 'Forgot' Account Hold

Hi,

My brother-in-law had a fire in his flat in July, the day after the fire he contacted NTL to let them know, they said no problem, and that they would put his account on hold until he sorts himself out a new flat etc...

Anyway, last week he tried to get them to install into his new flat, they agreed a date for the instalation, but didn't turn up.

On contacting them again, they say his account is frozen until he pays an outstanding bill of £160, and this is for the services provided to his old flat since July (Which has been unoccupied during this time, and he no longer has access to). They also claim no knowledge of his phone call in July, and the account being put on hold.

They are also refusing to disconnect his old flat until his bill is paid, (meaning the bill will just continue to go up, even though his is not using any services or even resident in the flat).

At the moment he is refusing to pay as this was thier error.

Anyone got any suggestions as to how to resolve this.

Thanks...

Simon.

Re: NTL 'Forgot' Account Hold

Refusing to pay will just end in the account being handed to a debt collection agency. Try contacting a team member (Chris T, RichardM, Mick etc) and ask for the details to be passed onto NTL officialdom as otherwise your friends situation will only get worse. Also there is a responsetek tool on the forum that should be used to highlight this sort of problem, it does help with resolutions too.
