Reminders don't work either

I tried to video record two programmes this evening using tht ntl box and it didn't work.

I set the reminders (ITV1 9 to 10pm then ITv2 10 to 10.30pm) then when I went back to watch the programmes, the box went to ITV1 at 9 but the now/next bar stayed on screen throughout. At 10, the box failed to change channel and stayed on ITv1 till 10.30 with the now/next bar still on screen.

Did I do it wrong or is it the case where ntl won't even allow me to record anything at all?

PS I also programmed by Freeview box as insurance and, guess what, it successfully recorded both programmes spot on, as I knew it would.

Re: Reminders don't work either

As far as I'm aware, the STB won't change channel on it's own. If I wanted to record what you did, I'd set the video to record ITV1 on the video's terrestrial channel (usually 3). I'd leave the STB on ITV2 (channel 117) for the video to record whatever channel it picks up ntl (for me, that's channel 8).

In other words, you can only record one ntl channel, & the STB must be on & set to that channel.

If this is wrong, I'll not be unhappy!

Re: Reminders don't work either

I'm a bit confused here - do you mean you have two VCR's - one attached to the NTL box and one to the Freeview - or just one VCR attached to both?

I have successfully recorded from NTL box to (DVD) recorder using reminders before now. Assuming you have a recorder attached to the STB via SCART, the recorder should be set to record from SCART for the length of time you want (1 1/2 hrs).

The fact that the you get the mini guide on the screen for the whole hour 1/2 suggest a problem with the STB software. Have you rebooted your STB recently?
