What smart gadgets do you have in your home?

I'm always looking at ways to make my home smarter.
What gadgets or devices do you have in your homes?

I have:

- Wifi Thermostat on my 465 Litre Fish Tank.
I have some expensive fish so keeping the water heated at the right temperature is crucial. This device keeps the temperature constant and alerts me to my phone in the event the heater malfunctions or goes out of the set boundaries. It can also start a cooling device if temperture gets too hot.

- Sonos Speakers.
I've put them in the corners of the room and find the sound quality great.
I can easily stream music from laptops or phones to around the house.

- Meross Smart plugs
Got a few of these setup to turn lights on.

- Security Cameras that send notifications to my phone.

There’s an Echo device in every room except the bathrooms and hue bulbs in every bedroom plus one lamp in the lounge. I may add a video doorbell at some point.

Re: What smart gadgets do you have in your home?

I've ended up creating a locked down isolated network for any smart / IOT devices just to keep them away from my private network.

Do you have two WiFi networks connecting via a smart switch into a pfsense-style router? Just wondering ...

Currently got a Ubiquiti Edge router (Approx £50) and set it up according to this guide.
https://github.com/mjp66/Ubiquiti/bl...%20Network.pdf

This has let me create several networks on each port that are completly isolated from each other or / can only talk one way.

Re: What smart gadgets do you have in your home?

All my wireless smart devices are on my VM guest network. My thinking is it's an extra level of security to my internal network
3 4k TVs have Comcast's connected or built-in.
All lights in the house bar the hall have Sonoff connected to Google Home.
Reolink cams around the house & back garden
Any item that's plugged into a wall socket, have TCP smart plugs again connected to Google home.
Some things are still not connected , but wishing for upgrades, like washing machine, kettle and toaster

We have a smart TV,a couple of them.....

And we have those Alexa things also and I swear a few times when my dad said "Turn off the lights" in that room,it messed up and turned my outlet in my room OFF that my computer is on... A couple times everything on this outlet has gone off for 2 seconds and then came back on.. (Resulting in a reboot of course)

I dont like how it does that.... Its scary how it can control any power outlet in your house!!

Thankfully he only has them in 1 room but it seems like the whole house can be controlled!!
