Re: Windows 11 24H2 Oficially available for download
I moved to Linux 4 months ago and have not looked back. I simply do not trust them with this recall feature. I know they say it is now opt in but how many times has a update changed an opt in to an opt out. I intend to wait and see what the outcome is once they role it out and then i may dual boot. I really don't trust Microsoft lately. I understand Linux is not for everyone but it really not as bad as people make it out to be. I worried that i would not be able to play my games on it but in fact i can and i get slightly faster frame rates.

Plus, reportedly, it breaks your PC. I'm resisting any further updates. I never updated Windows 8.1, and I never had any trouble.

yes linux mint is the best version of linux IMHO too
and if you ever decided to put windows 11 24h2 on comp anytime you could not use recall anyway that is not a NPU processor and you can uninstall co pilot on it too

Yes it's "Opt In" isn't it! There was no "Do you want to enable this" although currently the "Recall app" is not there yet, but will be soon once they decide that you actually don't need an NPU because they are slower for AI etc than a GPU.

This is on my PC right now on 24H2 without an NPU.
Just so you are aware, if you remove "Recall/Co-Pilot" from the Windows ISO you lose the ability to use the "Tabbed File Explorer", that is what is known currently because Microsoft have "Tied" Recall/Co-Pilot to the File Explorer, something they said they would not do!
I am keeping an eye on what the likes of Chris Titus and others find, because at the moment it's looking like Microsoft are nothing but liars!

Are the Copilot+ PC experiences available on all Windows 11 PCs?
These Windows AI features require powerful neural processing units (NPUs) – a specialised computer chip for AI-intensive processes – that are unique to the Copilot+ PC class of devices.

Recall only operates on Copilot+ PCs
Recall only operates on Copilot+ PCs that meet the Secured-core standard and include the following capabilities by default, which are verified by Recall:
BitLocker (Windows 11 Pro) and Device Encryption (Windows 11 Home) TPM (Trusted Platform Module) 2.0 – the TPM provides root of trust for the secure platform, management of keys used by the Secure Enclave TEE and additional platform hardening primitives, such as un-forgeable monotonic counters.
Virtualization-based security and hypervisor enforced code integrity.
Measured Boot and System Guard Secure Launch – If a machine is not booted securely, it cannot attest to the system’s security state and release keys, which can unseal content previously protected, thus mitigating early boot attacks.
Kernel DMA Protection against peripheral attacks.
from microsoft blog but yes i would never remove anything from a ISO but you can uninstall co pilot from setting apps installed apps then co piolot 3 dots uninstall
User choice from the start
During setup of your new Copilot+ PC, and for each new user, the user can opt into saving snapshots using Recall. If you don’t choose to opt in, it will be off by default and snapshots will not be taken or saved. You can also remove Recall entirely by using the optional features settings in Windows.

Re: Windows 11 24H2 Oficially available for download
Recall is enabled by Default, there is NO option to not enable it on install, I know because I reinstalled both my PC's that run Windows 11 at the weekend, neither of them asked to "Enable" it, it's enabled by DEFAULT.
Bitlocker, has not been rolled out as part of 24H2 and more than likely won't get rolled out anytime soon, since they have already broken it once with an update.
Also if you have it enabled and don't know the recovery key/code and you don't have the "Microsoft I am going to take all your data account" then you cannot get the code and your pc is bricked, until you reinstall Windows meaning you lose everything, yet another shining reason to never turn it on, on top of it killing your SSD!
As for the last part of your comment, you cannot fully remove "Recall or Co-Pilot" because it has been made a dependency of the File Explorer, meaning if it's not there, the File Explorer will not work properly, this is being investigated at the moment and will hopefully land Microsoft in court, because they will have lied about Recall and Co-Pilot not being a "Tied" to the core operation of the Operating System!
Microsoft are nothing but Liars and frankly I cannot wait to see them dragged into Court over Recall and Co-Pilot because it will happen, especially when Businesses start to notice it's embedded in Enterprise like it is in Pro and Home.

They are not the only ones that can run it, they are just the ones that it is being "Fully Released" on next month.
At the moment any pc with 24H2 has "Recall" enabled by default if they have done a fresh install, I am not sure about an "Upgrade" though as I don't have a machine that I do the 24H2 upgrade option on at the moment, as it doesn't show on my laptop.
"Recall" although the App is not available yet, is enabled on my PC, I wasn't given a choice to enable it, it was and is enabled by Default by Microsoft on install, so they have lied when they said it would be an "Opt In" also lied when they said "it won't be tied into core functions".
