“That” Kaspersky problem

Did anyone find an actual genuine workaround for the problem Kaspersky Total Security has with CF? I’ve searched through all its settings and can’t find any “whitelist” website to add it to.

I’ve looked on google and I don’t know if the advice there relates to older versions of KTS but none of the guides take me to where the advice pages say I should be in order to “switch off” (or whatever) Kaspersky for CF.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: “That” Kaspersky problem

is this what you are already doing?

Right click on the Kaspersky icon in the notification area.
Then click on Settings from the menu.
Select Threats and Exclusions from the left side menu. Notice that exceptions can be added using either Manage exclusions option or Specify trusted applications option

Re: “That” Kaspersky problem

Funnily enough yes I was, I’d been doing that for a few weeks for CF and NTHW (yep I still ussr that as my homepage).

But just now I fiddled with KTS’ anti-phishing settings and switched that off. I still get a red logo warning on each link but now I can access CF perfectly which is odd but I’m not complaining. I already have a Norton anti-phishing extension for Edge which I’ve now added so I’m covered either way now.

Strange but it’s sorted now.

Thanks though.

Re: “That” Kaspersky problem

This won't help your problem but I recommend ditching it especially after what they did in the US since being banned.

Re: “That” Kaspersky problem

I work for a Law firm attached to one of the biggest insurance companies in the country (not bragging, just context) and they had some spare KTS licences going free and I was offered one.

About 10 years ago when it all kicked off about the Russian state being involved with Kaspersky a full security audit was run (and still is on a fortnightly basis since Ukraine).

Although concerns were understandable we came back with a full clean bill of health.

I figured if it's good enough for my employers then I'll be happy to have it.

Except when it dislikes CF.....

Well since we know CF is ok and wont hurt anyone,I think adding an exception for this site would be grand..

Re: “That” Kaspersky problem

Yes, though I think I just added it to the exceptions in the end. Though that screen isn't the easiest to find and it's a bit fussy to work out what to put in.

Perhaps better would be for someone like Paul or another of the team who knows more of the technical setup of the site to try and find out exactly what KTS is triggered by

Re: “That” Kaspersky problem

I refer anyone with Kaspersky to this ;

https://www.cableforum.uk/board/show...5#post36090895

It goes back to the screw-up by the a-holes at Netcraft way back 2020 when they sent out a false phishing alert for the site. Everyone else corrected their systems when Netcraft admitted their error and retracted it. Kaspersky being completely useless have never completely fixed theirs. Avoid them.

My view is if it ain't broke don't fix it. Had kaspasky for more years that I can
remember . Never had a problem, have no problem with cf on android , but doesn't like it on Windows . Could it be windows connected?

Kasperkey removed from Play Store:

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/new...-accounts/amp/

Quote:
This comes after Kaspersky told BleepingComputer in July that it would shut down its United States operations after the U.S. government sanctioned the company and 12 executives and banned Kaspersky antivirus software over national security concerns in June.

In a statement earlier today, Google confirmed this prompted the decision to block Kaspersky and its products on the Google Play store.

"The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security recently announced a variety of restrictions on Kaspersky. As a result, we have removed Kaspersky’s apps from Google Play," a Google spokesperson told BleepingComputer.

In September, the Russian multinational cybersecurity company deleted its anti-malware software from customers' computers across the United States and replaced it with UltraAV's antivirus solution without informing its customers or asking for permission.
I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole, even for free.
