Ccleaner registry cleaner

Has Ccleaner removed this part of the software as in my version its no longer listed.

If they have does anyone know any other 3rd party software that will do the job as well as Ccleaner did?

Thanks.

---------- Post added at 20:41 ---------- Previous post was at 20:35 ----------

Oops I found it, its now listed under tools instead of having its own tab button as it once did.

Re: Ccleaner registry cleaner

I didn't think people needed to use registry cleaners anymore and as for Ccleaner I used to use it but wouldn't touch it with a barge pole since avast bought it.

There is absolutely no benefit what so ever in cleaning the registry and it can cause problems

Re: Ccleaner registry cleaner

In theory, it sounds like a reasonable idea. In reality, its not.
It'll make no practical difference, but might break things if it deletes incorrect items.
As Jaymoss says, just dont do it.

Re: Ccleaner registry cleaner

Used it a few times without problem, it does seem to speed up the pc. There is a back up option to undo any registry changes.

The option was still there last time I looked , but maybe buried in the menus a bit.

(just looked, its under 'tools', 'registry')

Placebo unless you are using a really slow old mechanical hard drive and the registry is broken.

Reg files are miniscule text files and takes a PC virtually no time to access them

Yep it's the same as those who "Defrag" an SSD, it's not needed and can damage them.

Software automatically disables defrag and instead optimised which just runs the trim command ahead of standard schedule

Re: Ccleaner registry cleaner

With modern SSDs really really is no benefit to using those registry cleaners now and windows is a lot smart now anyway
