Failed Cancellation Process

As per my post in the alternative VM forum :-

Seems I am not alone in being unable to cancel my contract (in my case after 23 years).

To say I'm frustrated is an understatement. I have been at this for a week, and have now missed the date I wanted to coincide with the required 30 days notice period.

I want to cancel because of the awful customer service (as experienced in even trying to cancel !), and constant increase in charges.

I have been repeadedly transferred between departments and of every occassion 100% promised I would be called back if disconencted. This did not happen in 100% of cases. They could have said they 100% guranteed not to call back..

The last contact was with "Jordan" who absolutely was calling back if I got disconnected. Although in fact I wasn't disconnected, I went into a holding queue for 25 minutes and gave up. Again.

PLEASE, is there anyway to achieve a simple cancellation and maintain sanity?

Re: Failed Cancellation Process

Writing them a letter recorded delivery seems to be the only sure fire way. You shouldn't of course have to do this. A phone call or online should be simple. It is that simple if you want to upgrade of course.

This is part of Ofcoms investigation into VM about them ignoring cancellation instructions. They still seem to be up to their dirty tricks, so you might want to let Ofcom know of your experience.

Re: Failed Cancellation Process

It's all purposely designed to grind you down so that in the end you give up and go away.

As has been said, if you wanted to upgrade and give them more money that wouldn't be a problem at all. Vile company.

Re: Failed Cancellation Process

My father-in-law called up CS and told them she wanted to cancel as the price had gone up at end of contract.

They offered a discount but he said no and cancelled without issue.
