Re: If you were starting from scratch…

Just BB and TV for me - probably still with VM, as no proper competition in this area (OpenReach estimates "sometime between now and 2026"), and SWMBO is used to the V6 interface, and doesn’t handle technology change in an optimal manner…

Re: If you were starting from scratch…

Broadband and TV only, although for some reason my wife wants to retain the landline, even though both of us have mobiles.

When a company, be it VM, Sky, BT offers me a streaming led system that offers integration including watchlists and profiles, I would switch to that. I'm not interested in TV channels as such.

So you are... entirely satisfied with Virgin’s service?

I’m not sure what “streaming led” means can you advise how this differs from the search functionality on the home screen? I’m yet to come across a “streaming” platform from Amazon, Google, Apple that substantially varies from the format.

Re: If you were starting from scratch…

Very happy with my 900MB from BT. We also get 3 mobile accounts but we only have a landline because I need a home office phone number. Even then it rarely rings and I’m only keeping it because I’m not paying for it.

For TV we have Apple TV+ bundled with my iCloud+ sub (mainly wanted Music and maximum cloud storage, didn’t cost much more to just get the bundle with TV), Prime bundled with Amazon deliveries, Netflix and Paramount.

If we didn’t use Amazon delivery a lot we probably would be happy to drop Prime TV. I’ll be dropping Paramount as soon as my half price year is up.

Re: If you were starting from scratch…

Broadband (VM or FTTP) and Sky TV.

No real use for a landline now, will probably get rid later in the year when my contracts up.

Re: If you were starting from scratch…

BB and landline. Since VM moved to voip for the landline it no longer serves a purpose as it dies if broadband goes out.

So why would you still have a landline if starting from scratch?

I'd have a Freesat PVR, a Freeview PVR, dip in & out of streaming services and broadband.

Re: If you were starting from scratch…

I would keep VM Broadband as there is no other option here with those speeds, but like I'm planning to do soon I'd ditch the TV and just use streaming services for that and I never use the landline so that can go too.

No idea how much the M250 BB would cost if I just kept that but I'm paying £110 a month for XL TV, M250 BB and phone line, I know it's my fault I've let it get that high as I hate using the phone to negotiate, so would never put in a request to cancel everything and wait for a call back.

Re: If you were starting from scratch…

If it wasn't for broadband I'm sure Virgin would have gone bust by now.

The phone is now largely obsolete and many like yourself aren't too bothered about their TV offering anymore.

In time I expect VM to be a broadband company only with BB also providing phone and TV.

If it wasn’t for many companies unique selling points they’d go bust!
