Over 46,000 now dead in Turkey–Syria earthquakes

Very sad, and sad there is no topic for this already.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/topics/cq0zxdd0y39t

Two earthquakes have destroyed thousands of buildings in Turkey & Syria.
The first quake (7.8) hit on 6th Feb at 04:17am, the second (7.7) at 13:24pm (9 hours later).
There have been over 1000 aftershocks, some measuring as high as 6.0.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_T...ria_earthquake

A UK aid appeal has raised over £50 Million already.
Quote:
The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) which brings together 15 leading UK aid charities says its appeal has raised £52.8 million in two days – including £5 million in aid match from the UK Government.

Thanks for adding this, Paul. This is a terrible tragedy.

BTW, when we donated via DEC, you can also claim Gift Aid and I also found that my company would match the donation, so it is worth asking at work if you are able.

Re: Over 26,000 now dead in Turkey–Syria earthquakes

The death total was initially said to be 20,000, then 18,000 and then 17,000.

Imagine my horror to see that it's been revised again to 25,000 and now over 26,000

I have often visited Turkey and my heart goes out to them. We all have our problems, but tragedies like this put things into perspective.

Unfortunately, I believe it’s expected to be over 50,000 lives lost.

Friends of friends over there are driving trucks of aid from Manavgat & Alanya. I see Erdogan is getting some grief as well.

Re: Over 26,000 now dead in Turkey–Syria earthquakes

It is sad indeed, the devastation of the force of nature. It was heartening to see Ukraine send aid though when they need it themselves.

Quote:
Ukraine sent 80 emergency workers and 16 pieces of engineering equipment to assist Turkey in clearing the rubble after two devastating earthquakes hit the country, Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, the spokesman of the State Emergency Service, said on Feb. 11.

Ukraine also brought in 10 canine units to help find survivors, Khorunzhyi said.

President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a decree on Feb. 7 ordering to send humanitarian aid to Turkey to help “overcome the consequences” of the devastating earthquakes.

All rather grim. The timing of the second severe quake (although always a risk) possibly couldn’t have been worse as the rescue effort for the first had mobilised.

Edit: It says this page cannot be connected to at this time. Hopefully this is because it's been overloaded, so it might work later on.

Re: Over 46,000 now dead in Turkey–Syria earthquakes

And it begins...

From James Delingpole...

https://www.conservativewoman.co.uk/...nology-exists/

Quote:
THE death toll from the earthquakes which ravaged Turkey and Syria on February 6 is approaching 44,000. Were all these people the victims of what the Guardian insists was an ‘Act of God’? Or were they murdered by the Powers That Be as a kind of horse’s-head-in-the-bed warning about what happens to any leader – in this case Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan – who refuses to toe the globalist line?

Among those who believe the latter is Romanian Senator Diana Iovanovici Șoșoacă. In a statement to the upper house of Romania’s parliament she declared:

‘For three years we have been experiencing a real campaign of mass killing worldwide, either through alleged pandemics and the imminent need to inject untested vaccines that kill people, or through wars that reduce the world’s population, but rearranges international politics, realigns power poles and alters borders. We have lived to witness the production of earthquakes on command, which is actually an attack on Turkey by the greatest of the world who totally disliked being set up by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of Turkey.

Well, you may as well be quoting David Icke. Delingpole is a loon.
