RP Block on TV
Hey guys, wondering if anyone can maybe help clear something up..
We've had issues with our v6 complaining it can't connect to the virgin media service.
Spoke to Virgin, originally they said there was an "RP Block" on my line, but seemed to change their mind when i advised the broadband was still working fine.
Does anyone know if an RP block is something that can apply to a single service? I'm now waiting for a virtual tech to call me back, i've triple checked the coax connections are tight etc so i'm not sure what else can be done virtually!
Thanks in advance

Re: RP Block on TV
A RP block would have no effect on your V6 box. It would only affect the broadband. But as your BB is working, it's safe to say you haven't got one.
If your V6 can't connect to the servers, probably it either isn't connected to your Hub, or something about your home network is blocking the traffic. Do you use modem mode and your own router?

Re: RP Block on TV
I do, I'm in modem mode with my own pfsense box That's been the case since the original install in Feb of last year though. Are you thinking it could be down to not using virgin's DNS?
They've decided to send a tech out as apparently there's also a large variation in my DS power levels (Lowest is 3, highest is 7.1).

Re: RP Block on TV
I seem to recall you do need virgin DNS for some things, I remember I had to switch to it temprarily to get something on our box to register and work, I was able to drop it once everything was up and running.

Re: RP Block on TV
Yep that's sorted it, as soon as spiderplant asked about my own router it reminded me. I've set my V6 to use virgin DNS and it's now connecting.
