Very sad news. He has been so much a part of our Monarchy for so many years. My heart goes out to his family.

Very sad, especially for the Queen. It's hard to lose someone so close for so long. I do believe that her faith will help as she knows that death is not the end, just the end of the beginning.

 RIP.

I wonder if his children or grandchildren will have to guard his body until the funeral as was protocol for the Queen Mother?

He was the only senior Royal I never encountered in real life, but I admired him the most amongst the males.

I don’t wish to be a doom seeker but I can’t help feeling the Queen won’t be too far behind. I know there’s no health issues, but they have been together so long, she’s known him since she was 13.
When people have been together that long they can’t, and don’t want to, live without each other. It’s possible to die of a broken heart there are lots of example where long term life partners have sadly passed within a short time of their partner going.

As for the Duke, in the words of his grandson,” he’s a legend.”

The Queen has quite a hard heart. She packed Charlie Farley off into an unhappy school-hood - and look how he's turned out. She let Diana go to the dogs.

When ER goes, I don't think it'll be because of a heartbroken state.
