Should VM follow Sky & make adverts available via VOD?

The John Lewis Christmas advert is now available to download for Sky customers.

I'm not sure if they have paid Sky for this, or if all the hype surrounding this annual event is working to the extent that people voluntarily watch them!

If this is the case, have the lines between entertainment and advertising just blurred that little bit more?

Should VM follow suit?

I've voted "other" as opposed to my first assumption of "no".

My reasons are that if VM obtain revenue from this, it might help to keep down prices or be ploughed back into investment.

I wouldn't be obliged to watch them, but they would be there for those that do.

I'm curious, do you actually care about the question or was it just some random nonsense that popped into your head and you thought "I must post this on t'internet right away!"?

Adverts, on demand... really?

This has to be one of the dumbest questions of the year.

Re: Should VM follow Sky & make adverts available via VOD?

Some people are really into adverts, I believe that there are even websites devoted to them!

Also, for some reason, people get excited about the annual John Lewis Christmas advert.

If Sky have done it, there must be a demand or financial benefit to them.

The question is, should VM follow suit?

Re: Should VM follow Sky & make adverts available via VOD?

It's not the advert I found in on demand but a making of video.

Also Sky does have YouTube.

Re: Should VM follow Sky & make adverts available via VOD?

So far, it looks like 2/3 say no to this and the other 1/3 are either happy to have this added to VM or aren't really bothered either way.

I'm surprised that there aren't more people point blank saying that they do not want this.

Well most people can use YouTube if they want to see adverts again.

Ok, then. I do not want this.

However, I wouldn't want to deny those who like watching adverts from getting their fix. As long as they are on separate channels that I can avoid, and do not use space that could be used for other channels, I have no objection.

I understand that space is no longer an issue for Virgin, and so if VM can make some money from these dedicated advertisement channels as well, so much the better.
