Wow, was the driver aiming for them?

They should have been the other side of the traffic bollard thing really, but the way the car looked to be out of control it may not have made much difference.

I just looked again, it certainly looks like the driver was aiming for them.

The group was not crossing "safely" but that does not defend the driver in any way.

Quite right I'm not defending the driver, more wondering if the kerb & sign would have provided a bit of protection.
