http://news.sky.com/story/increase-i...banks-10633700
This Country is spending Millions of OUR tax money In helping Migrants coming into this Country.
When they cannot look after there own people.
With Severe Benefit cuts to those on Benefit. Something is wrong somewhere.
This is something that Labour has not been talking about

Re: We cannot even look after our People
"Researchers from the University of Oxford looked at figures from the UK's largest food bank provider, the Trussell Trust between 2012 and 2015.
They analysed data from 259 local authorities and found that cuts in benefit payments coincided with a rise in people turning to food banks for help.
Our findings show clear evidence of sanctions being linked to economic hardship and hunger, as we see a close relationship between sanctioning rates and rates of food bank usage across local authorities in the UK"
I wonder how much this research cost to come to such an obvious and logical result?

Current Labour despise the working classes and treat them like something you tread on in the street.
Trouble with food banks is like roads, if you provide them then people will use them, especially if by doing so they can have cable TV and the latest i phone as well.

Re: We cannot even look after our People
You should not look at it like that. My disabled had his benefit cut by 50%. But luckily i work. I feel sorry for all genuine people on benefit who depend on food banks

Re: We cannot even look after our People
My wife volunteers at a food (basics) bank and it's not something people can just turn up for. They need a voucher access to which is controlled by groups like social services. They are also limited to the number of uses within a time period.

Re: Increase in benefit cuts linked to rise in numbers using food banks
mrmistoffelees. I do read the article. The article was stated by the Trust that runs the biggest chain of Foodbnks in the Country.
Since the Tories took over, these Food Banks have quardrupled in this time. This is down to the severe cuts, and benefit cuts that have lead to this.
Its very typical of the Government to say it isn't connected due to cuts.
If l wasn't working, l would have to use one. My benefit would be £72.00 per week - and yes, l have checked
The Social take into account of what my son gets. If he went for another benefit - he has been told by the Social that he will lose his benefit totally.
Food banks - you need a voucher from the Social Service's to get the Food Bank stuff.
My son lost 50% of his benefit. He cannot work, as he has to be 'shadowed' either by my wife who is 24 our carer or him at £60.00 per week. Or myself.

Re: Increase in benefit cuts linked to rise in numbers using food banks
The increased use of food banks comes from the increased number of food banks. They started long before 2010 and any benefit cuts.
Trussell Trust.
Quote:
Whilst fundraising for Bulgaria in Salisbury in 2000, Paddy received a call from a desperate mother in Salisbury saying: “My children are going to bed hungry tonight – what are you going to do about it.”
Paddy investigated local indices of deprivation and ‘hidden hunger’ in the UK. The shocking results showed that significant numbers of local people faced short term hunger as a result of a sudden crisis.
Paddy started Salisbury Foodbank in his garden shed and garage, providing three days’ of emergency food to local people in crisis.
In 2004, the UK Foodbank Network was launched teaching churches and communities nationwide how to start their own foodbanks.

It is not just social services that issue vouchers. No proof of anything is required. Their use is limited to around 3 times a year. so not exactly a long term solution to anyone. There have been TV documentaries(ie more than 1), where people have been eligible for a food voucher simply because the person decided to spend all their money on booze. There was even one case where the person was SOBER, but DECIDED to blow all his money on booze.

Was your son sanctioned ?
The report's lead author, Dr Rachel Loopstra, said: "(Our) findings show clear evidence of sanctions being linked to economic hardship and hunger, as we see a close relationship between sanctioning rates and rates of food bank usage across local authorities in the UK."
again I suggest you didn't read the article

Perhaps the increased number of food banks was caused by an increase in demand caused by need due to the cuts. Just a thought
