Innovation... (or lack of it!)

Innovation seems to be the buzz word at the moment. However I don't feel VM have anything right now which is a differentiator from what all the other service providers can produce.
When it comes down to basic cost - then some haggling with the various providers and you can get a good deal. But why choose VM against Sky? The Tivo when it first came out was a good piece of kit .. but it's old now ... and I find mine slow...
In this day and age then we should be able to use DNLA - stream our own media... including photos from our mobile phones.
We should (without the crap interface and licensing issues... yawn!) be able to stream our recorded content to our own devices anywhere in the world regardless of location - i.e. act as a VPN.
The TV package is too restrictive - if you a football fan or not ..
When you weigh up - apart from the robustness of cable, Freeview gives majority what you need.
Freeview + Now TV top-up... seems to be a more cost effective solution... and in my view this is wrong!
VM need to start innovating and fast ... else they could (in my view) really start to lose market share.
Loyalty is also something VM seems to miss! Why don't they offer free movie access to customers on key anniversaries (5 years, 10 years..) or something to make you feel wanted!!
Boradband, Virgin Mobile and landline are good IMHO ... but then if I got to a competitor I would probably say the same.
And why oh why can't I have ONE BILL .. why do I have a VM bill + Virgin Mobile bill... and if diferent members of the family have their own contract then this is individual. Surely I can get ONE BILL....

Re: Innovation... (or lack of it!)

Agree totally I cant jump ship to Sky due to trees but I am now considering weather to cut the cord and go with a Now tv / freeview combination going to look at BT to but I know in the past their customer service has been a shambles.

The Tivo is a good pvr but it is sluggish and really needs a dynamic epg. Freeview and Sky have them and it really is time that Virgin and Tivo worked together to implement a dynamic epg for us.

Totally agree, there's lots of people I know who are fed up with Virgin now, I'm next I think!
