Nigel Farage claims his car sabotaged in ‘assassination attempt’


The Ukip leader claimed that a saboteur loosened the nuts on his Volvo, causing one of the wheels to come off as he drove through France, while returning to Britain from the EU headquarters in Brussels.

Mr Farage said that he had received death threats in the past, and that on this occasion both the police and car mechanics were convinced it was done maliciously, although he decided not to pursue matters...

...The crash happened in daylight hours in October, and when emergency services arrived they told Mr Farage that the nuts were loosened intentionally, The Mail on Sunday reported.

“The French police looked at it and said that sometimes nuts on one wheel can come a bit loose – but not on all four,” he told the newspaper.

When asked who might have done it, he replied: “I haven’t got a clue. Quite frankly, the way my life’s been over the past two-and-a-half years, nothing surprises me.”

Sadly there is always someone out there who is prepared to go that step further.

I didn't think it was up to the victim whether or not the police pursued a case of attempted murder? Is this the same as Farage's 'impeccable source' that the voting in the Oldham by-election was 'bent' which was also not referred to anyone?

Who decides not to pursue an attempt of their life?

Oh dear Nigel, now you've really went into the realms of fantasy. He is like the epitome of Poe's Law. This couldn't be better if he didn't shout "infamy infamy they've all got it in for me" at the police/media.

Not saying he's wrong but..

That said it is very unusual for all four wheels to have all nuts loose (ok the locking one my not have, but the other going loose would very likely shear that one too)

The person who claimed it is a rapid anti Farage radio personality and should be treated with the same sort of response, which is "Really now".

As for your comment Osem, when you spend your entire political career creating monsters, real or imagined...

Volvo did issue a recall for a wheel problem, it's just that Farage's car was not one of the batchs recalled.

He could have a point, remember his helicopter crash a couple of General Elections ago and now this ? Somebody deliberately gave him testicular cancer too when he was younger...

If anybody was trying to do away with him, it's most likely to be another of the swivel eyed loons in his own party, they hate him. But then again, they hate everybody and everything.
