Traveller site raid again in Cardiff area
http://http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-...wales-33273627
I see they are at it again, looks like another potential case of forced labour.
Quote:
Swords, machetes and a handgun were seized during Wednesday's operation targeting travellers' sites in Cardiff, police said.
Protecting 13 people from forced labour was a "critical element" of the raids.
More than 250 officers and staff swooped on New House Farm, the Shirenewton caravan site and a house in Rumney on Wednesday, making 20 arrests.
The operation by South Wale Police targeted organised criminality in the traveller community.
On Wednesday morning, 20 people were arrested for offences, including suspected forced labour, money laundering, theft and large scale abstraction of electricity.
Among the items seized by police were luxury cars including a Ferrari and Range Rover, weapons and a substantial amount of cash.

Ferraris and Range Rovers? It seems there's a different class of traveller these days. The Mitsubishi L200 used to be good enough for them.
Perhaps they should be running the economy; I'd like an Aston Martin please

Re: Traveller site raid again in Cardiff area
Our town was flooded with them, the council was chasing them from one place to another, the left rubbish and poo (human), it was a joke.
But in a land mark case our town got a injunction banning travellers from the entire town, if the camp up, its contempt of court and they face heavy fines a prison.
The trouble is most have massive houses in Southern Ireland.

Sounds like a plan. I don't see why being a 'traveller', 'gypsy' or anything else should afford people carte blanche to despoil private and public property as they see fit.

Re: Traveller site raid again in Cardiff area
The lot we have don't travel at all, except around the streets day and night looking for "scrap" metal i.e. any metal that isn't secured. They use a council house as a mailing address for benefits, etc.

And I don't suppose that's sub-let either...
