An 'Exclusive' offer in the post

Having cancelled VM TV and phone back in January i've just received a personalised 'exclusive to you' offer for the Big Bang Bundle.

A comeback inducing 'offer' of £25 for 12 months.
It's £5.01 dearer than the current offer on their website.

I assumed exclusive to me would be cheaper than the offer to anyone else.
TBH i don't feel such a 'valued customer' with this.

Suffice to say it's not enough to tempt me back

Has anyone had any decent comeback offers to VM or is it something they just don't really do?

But they don't sell it at a 'certain' price, the price is variable isn't it?

There's 3 different prices for the Big Bang Bundle alone.

I decided not to take it thanks very much. After 20 odd years and finally deciding to leave i've now come to realise the VM experience really wasn't all that.

That statement is a bit.. daft, considering that his 'exclusive' offer was higher than the web price, clearly there's elasticity around pricing, and you're a bit of a clown if you don't try and get the best deal you can.

Re: An 'Exclusive' offer in the post

VM Have costs on the website for products .. Pay it or don't your choice ..

to quote the OP : I assumed exclusive to me would be cheaper than the offer to anyone else.

Why should one person be given a product cost exclusive to them ?

As i said in my first post ... if you can afford it get it if you can't don't ..

bla bla bla ....

You're right. But why don't you tell VM that; they do it all the time!

The days of fixed prices are long gone. It's all about price cutting to tempt people to join VM rather than Sky and visa versa. It's Sky and VM who have started all this, so moan at them.

You could argue that only a fool would pay full price these days. The answer is very simple; get Sky and VM to refuse to sell at less than the quoted price. And if you think that's gonna happen... you're deluded.

VM called it exclusive, not me.

The letter said 'exclusively for you', so i guess it was as i haven't seen that price elsewhere.
I can afford it but why throw good money after bad?

But the point of the post was if anyone else had received any good comeback offers from VM as Sky regularly do 50% offers.

Look at it this way, VM obviously feel comfortable about your financial prospects for the coming year so all must be well...

Re: An 'Exclusive' offer in the post

I have a very good deal currently with VM. I was telling a friend at work who was paying a lot more. She phoned them up and asked for the deal i had, they disputed i even had that deal. The next day at work she tried again and again was told that i would not be getting that deal. At that point i was standing next to my friend.

She passed the phone to me and i gave the VM retentions team my info, they looked and confirmed i was getting the deal. However they went on to say it could not be offered to my friend as it was an in store promotion that was reducing my bill. I said that i had never signed up to any instore promotion and that my deal was from retentions (who i was speaking to on her behalf).

VM still argued with me and refused to give my friend the same deal.

What i am saying is VM can and will give better deals to some customers and have no rhyme or reason for who gets what.

Re: An 'Exclusive' offer in the post

You obviously have a very good deal.

Think what would soon happen if everyone was to be given your price.

There would be a general, large price increase for everyone, including you.

For your benefit, I suggest you keep your price, which you have done well in negotiating, to yourself.

Nah... let's expose the unfair pricing policy that VM operates.

Re: An 'Exclusive' offer in the post

Well this all came about when my contact was up. I waited just till after the price increases came in which saw my bill at £75. I priced up deals with Sky and BT and took to the phone.

The person i spoke to could only get my bill down to £70 so i proceeded to cancel. 2 days later had a call from retentions who said they did not want to lose my custom why was i leaving and so on.

I told them i was extremely happy with my service just thought i was paying too much for what i was getting. Before my contact ended and the price increase came in i was paying £56 a month so my bill had gone up by £20. The person said was there any service i was willing to change or reduce to get my bill down i said no so he started typing away.

He said he was willing to give me what i had before

100mb broadband
weekend calls and line rental
XLTV (TIVO + V+HD)

for £50.74 a month for 12 months i was shocked as i would have been quite happy to pay what i was paying £56. He also gave me a small bit of credit to cover the fact the contract ended the previous month (it was about £20).

As you can imagine i bit his hand off. No reduction in any services and paying almost £6 a month less than i was before the price increase came in i see that as a result in my book.

Not long after i got this deal i managed to get a good deal for a friend using a different technique, talking with the CEO office. Got her bill down by a tenner a month no loss in services but she was taking some premium services.

If you know what to say and are willing to negotiate you can save quite a bit of money. Virgin will not be losing money on my contract and they have a happy customer for 12 months till its time to deal again

I certainly do not see it as me pushing everybody elses prices up i see it as if they are willing to pay the prices offered to them then that is their business. I am not willing to pay more for the exact same service. If the worst came to the worst i would up and take my custom to Sky or Now TV
