Energy Utility Bosses Donate to the Tory Party
I see the Fat Cat Energy Supply bosses have donated large amounts of cash to the Tory Party funds. Is this an appeasement payment so that in the future we the plebs will have to pay ever increasing energy bills!!!!

Quite. That may also help explain the Labour party's finances.

There is nothing wrong with donations made to political parties as long as everything is legal and above board.

Clarity is everything: Business makes jobs, pays employees, contributes to pensions, trade and taxes that fund the state expenditure whereas unions....
It's no surprise that business supports the party that is pro-business.

But frequently exploit said employees for their own political ends.

Who do you really think holds the power today: the employers or the employees (backed by the unions if they have one)?
<warning: possible "hyperbole" ahead/>
Employers, backed by government policies just have too much power. The employer/employee balance that we had (in varying degrees) is now way too far in favour of the employer. Without this balance, society is heading for a dark place. The ability of multi national companies who are invited to this country by fawning politicians, allowed to escape paying taxes and to then with no or little consequence relocate their UK business to India or China leaving their UK employees redundant.
Pretending that unions are still the bogey man just plays into the hands of the right wing press and ignores the real threat to our country and that is the growing disparity between the poor (however you may define them) and the wealthy. This is the elephant in the room and is being ignored. This is the real and present danger to our children's future. How many of our chidren will be able to buy their own home as their parents may have done, espcially in London? Answer: a lot less. It is not the hysterical non-stories about the scrounging poor or the tidal waves of fertile immigrants that are the real issue we should address today.

Scroungers don't have to be poor and millions of immigrants have driven down the wages of the poorest whilst benefiting the richest. They have also required housing which is in short supply thereby helping to drive prices/rents up. They may not be the sole or biggest cause of the problems you cite but they don't help matters do they and to say so isn't hysterical.

Re: Energy Utility Bosses Donate to the Tory Party
I don't think anyone would be suprised if political party donors (from all sides) sometimes benefit in some way from their donations. It could be a gong, future business friendly policies, etc.
I guess you could see it as part of the lobbying process

Figures show that since 2005, Ian Taylor of Vitol Oil has given £965,002, including £626,002 in the last five years. Ayman Asfari of Petrofac has given £450,600 over the past decade, including £400,600 since 2015.
Wind farm firm Offshore Group Newcastle has handed over £364,275 since Cameron won the leadership, while the man behind the firm, Ukrainian-born Alex-ander Temerko, gave another £311,630.

from the op's link
This is a non story, individuals can donate to who they like ,the other alternative for those against people donating to political parties is to stop it altogether and rely on funding from general taxation ,anyone fancy that ?
