Re: Beer duty cut by 1p a pint

Anythings better than the duty escalators of the last lot. Never forget who put up the duty on the working man's pint by 25% and don't get me started on fuel duty escalators.

That will help the British micro breweries - not. Last time I bought a round I had to remortgage the house! Teresa May must do something with those bags under her eyes, she looks like she has been on the razz all night.

Wow!

You must have a very expensive local.......

Near me, a round for 4 costs between £12 and £15 - you must have had a very small mortgage.

Re: Beer duty cut by 1p a pint

This is so irresponsible.

dropping the price by 1p will just encourage people to drink more beer!
for the next few months people are going to be celebrating a penny off by buying more beer!

I have only a drink in a pub on 2 occasions since the smoking ban started in Welsh pubs. And the prices on the second occasion hardened me to never darken the doorway of a pub ever again.

Re: Beer duty cut by 1p a pint

and more great news for the black market tobacco industry

Going up in smoke
Duty on tobacco will remain subject to its existing 2%-above-inflation increase.

"I have no changes to make to the duties on tobacco and gaming already announced," said Mr Osborne.

This means the price of a packet of 20 cigarettes will go up by 16p from 6pm, while the price of 25 grams of hand rolling tobacco will also go up by 16p.

With interest rates so low, I hardly think about saving these days, I just spend to beat inflation (which we all know is nowhere as low as they say).

I still have savings dwindling but I still have savings. But then I don't smoke and I don't drink,I own my home and I barely go out.So I want whatever I can get for putting my money where the banks can speculate to make more money.
