Windows 10 updates a security risk

I have been wondering about this for a while and wonder if anyone can answer this question.

As we know Windows 10 also delivers updates via P2P which means it can download some parts from other peoples computers. If these PCs have a virus is that a possibility it could spread onto other systems?

Easy answer.

No.

Any P2P file (or part thereof) has a related hash code attatched and if does not match what it should be is rejected (simple way of putting it).

BTW it does not relate to all updates from outside your network as I understand it, only the initial update file from another OS.

Theoretically, yes. In practice, it's unlikely. As stated above, it's likely that the P2P system uses some sort of hashing system to ensure that it is actually fetching parts of the right file, but most of Microsoft's updates are digitally signed, and any attempt to change them would cause Windows to reject them.
