Anti-semitic attacks more than double in UK

Depressing.

Overall, the trust, which has been recording anti-Jewish hate crime for 30 years, logged 1,168 anti-Semitic incidents in 2014 – a 118 per cent increase on the previous year.

The report cites dozens of individual cases of abuse fuelled by a combination of Islamist, far right racist and extreme anti-Israeli motivations.

It includes numerous examples of threats and insults, children abused on streets and jokes about murdering Jews.

It cited how swastikas and the term “Jewish slag” were daubed on gravestones at a Jewish cemetery in Manchester in February while in September a man was battered with a glass and a baseball bat and subjected to extreme anti-Semitic insults.

If I may be so bold I can speculate on at least one of the causes of the uptick.

Per head of population, there were four times more hate crimes against Jewish targets than against Muslims. One Jewish MP, Lee Scott, received five death threats.

“They were saying things like, 'You Jewish pig, we’re going to stone you to death’,” he says. “Always on the phone, and always on Monday evenings to my parliamentary office when they knew my staff had left.”

In parts of Britain, this newspaper has found, anti-Semitism is open, unashamed – and supported by the taxpayer. Only 25 miles north of Barnet, in Luton, one of the town’s main mosques, the Luton Islamic Centre, publishes statements on its website describing Jews as the “brethren of swine and pigs” and calling for “victory over the Jews and the rest of the enemies of Islam”.

We all see so many cries of Islamophobia it's bordering on passe now, while simultaneously those making this claim seem the main offenders as far as anti-semitism goes, which isn't surprising given the holy book they obsess over considers Jews to be sub-human.

It's depressing how those in power spent so long pandering to one minority group and actively ignored many things, including this.

This is a scenario repeated in France and the Netherlands that I know of, with increasing Jewish emigration from them. Seems with Muslims comes anti-semitism, again not surprising given the Koran demands it.

I hope this becomes more of an issue but of course it won't. Thanks to demographics, in no small part taxpayer sponsored procreation, and mass immigration there are far more votes in the Muslim population than the Jewish one now.

Troubles me that the party that is likely to hold sway in Parliament come May is led by a Jew yet will likely continue to turn a blind eye to this. Truly many of our politicians prostitute themselves.

Why segregate into Anti-semitic, anti- Islamic , anti-Welsh etc. It's all wrong, categorising like this is designed to create more divisions and stir up hatred.

Have to say though, the Jewish state itself hasn't exactly got a perfect track record in this respect (e.g the people they persecute in the occupied territories) . They can't keep using the horrors of the 2nd World War as a reason as to why crimes against them are more serious than crimes against anyone else.

Which has what to do with Britain?

4 times as many attacks per head on Jews as Muslims, yet who do we constantly hear about on the news and from politicians?

Of course none of it should happen, doesn't give license to ignore one group because those of their race elsewhere are less than perfect any more than that Saudi Arabia, etc, being stuck in the dark ages gives the right to persecute British Muslims.

I have never understood how to hate someone based on their religion or on their skin colour.

I didnt even realise that Lenny Henry was black until someone pointed it out to me in the 80s maybe its the way ive been brought up and how i have raised my son the same.

I always try and get on with people and judge from that to see what type of person they are.

Aren't the Arabs also Semitic? The root of the word is descendants of Shem (Noah's son - Gen 10:21 ancestor of all the Hebrews - include Abraham who fathered Isaac -> Jacob/Israel and Ishmael -> Arab nations.

Still the Jewish people have been probably the most hated race in all history.
