Overhead BT (i think) phone cable and trampoline problem

Hi there,

I have virgin media at home, so do not require a BT line into my house. There is a current one, its very old, and goes across my garden right where my daughter and I would like a trampoline to be situated. There is no other situation for teh trampoline. The cable will interfere with her bouncing. Can I remove this cable, if so, how? Can I just cut and unhook? Then secure it around the telegraph pole, which is right next to my property?

Thanks in advance!

If its definitely a BT/Openreach line, you should really contact them to move it, as you're not allowed to tamper with their equipment yourself. Try the link below under "About Our Network Equipment"

If someone did cut it then what would happen?

In theory, you can be prosecuted for tampering with their kit. In practice if it did turn out to be a live line and someone saw you do it then Openreach could pursue costs.

Thanks everyone. The bit that connects to the house is very old and corroded. If it were to come away, it wouldnt be my fault would it

It's stronger than you think.
