Question New and Reruns Default

When I set up a new series link it automatically defaults to new and reruns and quite often end up with one new program recorded and a number of old ones. So I have to delve into the settings to change it to new only. Is there any way this default setting can be changed?

Yes, it is Home, Settings, Recordings, then default options (or something like that anyway). Change the default settings to your preference, save them and there you go. Will only work for new series links set after that though, so existing ones will need to be changed manually.

Re: New and Reruns Default

There is a small risk with using NEW only as if there are recording clashes meaning more than three tuners are needed then you could lose a recording.

That's because the BBC don't provide episode data for Click. There are two possible ways to work around it - either set a manual recording, or set a Series Link on BBC2, where it is only shown once a week,

As long as it is repeated within a week, it would still be flagged new and would be recorded.

The bigger danger with using "new only" by default is if you want to record something that isn't new and forget to change the series link settings.

I can vouch that recording Click off BBC 2 (or 2 HD) works for only getting the new ones

The annoying thing is that the preferences won't let you set 'Keep Until I delete' as an option. But I think we've been over that a few times...
