One Plus One mobile phone
Hi all, Anyone heard of this phone? http://oneplus.net/uk I have just ordered one on Saturday (it is not as simple as ordering any other phone!) Just wondering what people's views are on this phone.

Re: One Plus One mobile phone
Funnily enough I've just been reading a review of this phone:
http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/...-and-unlocked/
It got a good review, but I'm surprised you've been able to get one - it says in the review that you need an invitation before you can buy one.
Apart from that, it looks a solid (even a bargain) smartphone from a Chinese company looking to expand in the west. Highlights include a big screen, great battery life, low price, and the use of CyanogenMod as the default OS.

Yeah getting an invite was tough - I got lucky as someone had a spare invite and I was first to claim the code. The phone has not shipped yet - I think I will get it by the end of this week.
I saw the reviews and the price and I needed to upgrade my S2 (was having battery and other issues)

Re: One Plus One mobile phone
The specs looked superb when I first heard about the phone and people wanting invites but over time I wondered if the specs would be out of date by the time they actually shipped. Seems to have taken them forever to actually build them since first announced.

Re: One Plus One mobile phone
Considering buying one myself and getting rid of this shockingly bad Sony Xperia Z2, that now seems to not want to accept calls when the Wi-Fi is turned on and left in sleep mode for more than 10 minutes at random times.

Re: One Plus One mobile phone
Got the phone today... and it's amazing! From the packaging to the phone itself. The phone is very light and does not seem that big once in your hand. It is superfast too. I have not used Cyanogen mod before but I don't think it will be too difficult to get used to it
I did upgrade from a Samsung Galaxy S2, so maybe any new phone would have seemed good to me :P

Re: One Plus One mobile phone
Anyone got one of these phones and use it on the 3 network? What's the 4G speeds like?
Was tempted to get one of these phones but heard that they don't support band 20, which Three uses for part of their signal. Wondered how that worked and what effect it would have on speed/internet?
Three has upgraded my area for 4G but still with the non-4G version of the S3. Speeds are great anyway but if the 4G is comparable with this phone, worth upgrading for the price and those specs. No point having unlimited 4G if it's worse than HSDPA though.
Must be someone with one of these phones who knows

Re: One Plus One mobile phone
After recent events I have decided that I am not going to buy one of these, as I cannot support a company that would do the things this company has done.
The phone does seem to be really good based on reviews, but I think spec wise now it's not going to be much different from something like a Note 4.

From what I know the 4G speeds are excellent. However on 3 you will not always be able to get 4G because of the Band 20 issue. I am on Tesco mobile which uses o2 so I don't get 4G speeds at all, however I read about the 3 4G speeds on the One Plus forum.
It's an excellent phone. I am happy with using this phone even without having 4G speeds.

Re: One Plus One mobile phone
What has the company done?
It's similar spec to the new phones but less than half price. 3GB memory, 4k + highspeed/slo-mo video recording+all those features on a v.nice 5.5" screen for just over £200 is much better than the £500+ for similar phones.

What I can't seem to find out is if some areas Three use band 20 but other areas use a different band, or if all their areas use both bands but you miss out on something through not having on of them.
Specs are great but want my next phone to support 4G as i'll likely stick with it for the next 2 or 3 years. Part of the reason the 3GB memory was appealing.

From what I know, some areas of 3 use band 20 - which is where you will not get 4G, otherwise you will get 4G. Areas do not have both bands. You could wait till next year for One Plus Two which I believe will not have this Band 20 issue. The question is, can you wait? I had a Samsung Galaxy S2 which was barely working and so I really needed a new phone. I was not fussed about 4G so this was a no brainer for me. If you can wait I would wait for the One Plus Two.
