I don't think VM is the issue but the "sites and services" you aquire your feeds from.
How does youtube, BBC iPlayer play?

Virgin doesn't block anything other ISP's don't also block.

Re: PHANTOM QUAD CORE M8 Android 4.4 Kitkat XBMC Streaming Mini HTPC TV Box

I have just done a very very quick google to understand the OS and see if there are some network settings you need to change but it seems like a lot of peeps are having a variety of issues with this. The solution seems to be to head over to the official forums where they have got links for various software builds you can put onto it and it cures most problems. I would suggest you do some googling, read up on it and then see what other peeps have done.

Incidentally, what are you going to use it for? Have you thought about buying a normal media player? Have you had a look to see if you need to do any port forwarding? How the symptoms present themselves for your streaming? Do you get any error messages telling you you cannot do it or does it actually fire up an app and just takes ages to connect?

You haven't explained what you are trying to stream, how, or to what. Thus making it impossible to tell if it's a problem with the device, the internet, or PEBKAC.

Re: PHANTOM QUAD CORE M8 Android 4.4 Kitkat XBMC Streaming Mini HTPC TV Box

Hello all thanks for reply's, I have disconnected box now got fed up with it, I will set it up again today I'm not techy with this kind of think I just thought it was a matter of setting it up & that was it as I saw a similar box in my villa that I was staying in & thought it looked good with all the Movies Sport & TV channels that it could get, when I first set it up I didn't notice BBC I Player on it or You Tube, will have to check again, with it was set up I tried a movie then I got a error message cant remember what it was but it also seemed to be buffering, which I thought was bad as the BB speed on holiday was only 8Meg I'm on 152Meg if I need to do anything like port forwarding them I wont have a clue, General Maximus do you have a link for official forums please, I will set it up again & report back. Thanks for everyone's help comments so far.

I'll post some link for you to have a read of. I haven't got the time to go through it all and find the right solution for you unfortunately.

I think the best thing you can do is try it again and then make a note of any error messages that are displayed because then you can pin point the nature of the problem and and try and see what is causing it.

Re: PHANTOM QUAD CORE M8 Android 4.4 Kitkat XBMC Streaming Mini HTPC TV Box

the best thing to do is look at the error message, google it and see if there is a setting you can change which is described step by step (e.g. like if you need to add an exception to the firewall). If that doesn't fix it then you will be looking at the extreme which wiping it and putting a different version of the OS on.

Tbh though, if it doesn't work out of the box and you don't want to faff around with it, I would return it to amazon and try something else. Amazon have got an excellent returns policy and unless you were looking to stream solely off the internet, I would look at getting a media player with some built in apps and then you have got the best of both worlds. Have you had a look at Google tv or the Now TV box to see if they can meet your needs? http://www.nowtv.com/box
