I've got something similar - very useful, and well built.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Or the new version

Like the idea of the USB connections being in the wall plate though, obviously saves a plug too. Think they should have made output of the ports 2.5A instead of 2A though. If you charge a couple of things at once they may charge slower.

Re: USB Wall plate
2A is nice enough. Finding 2A USB adapters is hard enough as it is. Also too much higher and you begin to lose efficiency.
On a similar note I had been tempted to wire up a few rooms of my house with a 12v mains circuit as well, for powering all the routers and stuff off a single 12v supply rather than dozens and dozens of wall warts.

Re: USB Wall plate
They do them at screwfix too http://www.screwfix.com/p/LAP-13A-2-...k-Nickel/49610 and there 2.1A version so you get an extra 100mA
Though once again no on/off switch for the USB

Re: USB Wall plate
It's swings and roundabouts.. These have the advantage that you don't need to find a spare USB charger, and then a socket to stick it in. They also have the advantage that you don't lose a socket when charging a USB device. But, the USB chargers are cheaper and easier to install.
I've got a couple of sockets to replace, and need more in the house anyway. Although I need to add enough that I'm thinking of getting an electrician in.

Re: USB Wall plate
I've thought about getting one of these, but I have heard that some of the cheaper models are designed for Hong Kong wiring, meaning the terminals don't quite have the space for UK spec ring main wiring.

Re: USB Wall plate
I think they are great and will probably get one for the lounge where I charge most of my devices.
