Ringing retentions question

Hi all

I'm about to ring retentions to try and broker a better/cheaper deal as i've been using the same old equipment seemingly forever (Samsung STB and ambit 250/255 modem). I also fancy getting an iphone for the missus, would it be a good opportunity to factor a mobile phone subscription into any package discussion or are they seperate departments from each other ?

Thanks

Check the prices online and get an equivalent cost from Sky - go armed with these figures and see what they offer. Be nice, but make it seem as though you are seriously considering leaving due to your archaic equipment and cost. Don't accept the first offer, press them as there is usually a better one waiting in the background. Expect to have to sign up to a new contract - but you want a good deal for that.

Forget the iPhone - waste of money, particularly on the Mrs Get it separately from VM - the Motorola Moto G is not much difference and £400 cheaper.

Re: Ringing retentions question

Hi Mr K, thanks for your thoughts. I agree with the first part regarding getting clued up on competitors prices before ringing.

When you say get the iphone seperately from VM what do you mean?. I've been getting mobile phone calls and leaflets from them for years, i've studiously ignored them until now but the prices seemed OK, she's a bit of a technophobe but can use an iphone and they're offering 4 S's which is a bit of a bonus. Would CS not be able to provide me with a good mobile package at the same time. ?

Re: Ringing retentions question

In other words would retentions have the authority to offer me a mobile deal bundled in with tv/phone/internet, or should i treat them seperately and ring the dedicated mobile number ?

Re: Ringing retentions question

I think the only thing they can do mobile wise in packages is Broadband + Sim Only http://store.virginmedia.com/broadba...sim/index.html

I don't use VM for mobile but from what i've picked up from various forum posts over the years their mobile department is completely separate, although i'm only assuming that's still the case.

Re: Ringing retentions question

yep although both companies have the same parent, mobile is detached from tv/bb/phn. Although some people have access to both sides retentions are not one of those departments.
