Cardiff Airport gets a loan.

Cardiff Airport is to receive a £10m loan from the Welsh government to make improvements to the site.

but

The Welsh government bought the airport for £52m in March!

The money will be used for a new security area to accommodate new technology and more passengers, a new taxi booking service in arrivals and improved drop off and pick up areas.

So a room with a PC and some chairs in, a phone on the wall, and yet another change to the access road out the front?

I was there in May. The place is like a glorified bus station.

They have been fiddling with the place for years: new signage that cost a fortune, announcing it to be an airport (I wondered why there were those aircraft there); changing access routes to the front of the building (they now charge £1 just to allow a car to drop someone off less than a mini-trek away from the doors, tough titty if you're disabled); building car parks further and further away (one is free for 20 minutes but it would take more than that to do the round trip with baggage/kids/a disabled person).

Maybe they should just call it London (Cardiff) and take some of the pressure off real airports...

Probably quicker for us Londoners to get to than either Luton or Stanstead...

My last visit there involved all 3 - I wasn't sad to be driving away from there.
