Do i have to have the TV Service?

I Currently have the standard large package TV with Virgin aswell as their 120BB and XL Phone.

Do i have to have the TV with them? I am looking to goto freeview to save some cash and how much am i likely to save per month by getting rid of the TV?

Thanks

Nothing. Daft as it may seem, but it seems that taking all 3 parts of Virgin will actually decrease the bill rather just having 1 or 2 aspects of it. Nuts really.

You might be able to cancel the TV package you are paying for and still save money!

The reason being that you should get the M TV package free with the phone , thereby retaining the discount for having all 3 services.

I have almost the same as you (standard phone instead of XL) , the TV service I never use , the phone is plugged in but I only use it as an answerphone and that very rarely.

You might be able to get TV M, but not through regular sales. You would need to go through Retentions to have any chance of getting it.

I think from VM's pov it makes total sense... all companies in this came are after Triple Customers so the pricing is set to make it good value.

I was going to dump my landline but it is cheaper to keep it as have Tivo and Broadband....

Same here - we dont use the landline, but when I tried to cancel it, they said the price would increase. They ended up giving me 24/7 Free calls at a cheaper price than I originally had.

Still don't use it though!

Yeah same situation, wanted to drop the Phone part of our package and was told it would cost more or less same anyway.

We don't use our landline much at all, probably had about £10 worth of calls in the past 12 months.

Just wish you could get the services you want without being penalised for having something you don't need nor use.

...but you're not being penalised at all! You are getting something for nothing. A free landline with your broadband and TV service.

Re: Do i have to have the TV Service?

It's not free if it says on my bill

Phone line rental total £14.99

You can try dress it up another way if you like, but the fact is the TV/Broadband bundle cost I pay would increase if I dropped the Phone Line part of my overall package which appears separately on my bill.

I'd see your point if they didn't differentiate on the bill and include the Line Rental actually in the bundle, but they don't.

Same here - attempted to dump the landline and was told I would lose the triple-service discount, meaning I would only save £2 per month.

Cold-callers use my phone more than I do.

...but it's not about the component prices; it's about the total price.

Two services cost £X, three services cost £X+2. The landline in your case costs £2. If you don't want the landline, save yourself £2.
