Control TiVo YouTube using a smartphone or tablet
Came across this tonight and thought it was rather cool - apologies if it's been pointed out before
You can control the YouTube app on TiVo using an Android device without any major networking hassles, and it works now.
All you need to do is make sure you've authorised the TiVo app with your YouTube account and then follow the instructions under the 'Pair' option (all the way to the right under 'My YouTube' on TiVo)
If you have Android 3 or 4 then it's all built into the main YouTube app, or you can download 'YouTube Remote' from Google Play
You then have full control over what appears on the YouTube TiVo app from the YouTube app on your device - and it's very responsive. It also allows for much better playlist building - because you can do search and add all on the device without interrupting what is playing on the TV

It's also posible on IOS (even IOS6) by going to m.youtube.com. Makes it about a million times easier to use!

Re: Control TiVo YouTube using an Android device
Tried this today and can't believe I could have ages ago. It certainly makes searching, loading and controlling videos on the YouTube app much quicker and better, and making your own playlists on the spot is awesome too. Best YouTube app we've had so far.

This is excellent. Is there any way to keep the pairing or do I have to re pair each time I go in?

Re: Control TiVo YouTube using an Android device
First chance I had to use it was last night. I logged in twice and had to pair each time. No big deal-to be honest I thought the app was pretty much unusable until you started this thread so I'm chuffed either way.

Re: Control TiVo YouTube using an Android device

Ok I can get it to work if on my ipad if a use a different browser than Safari like Atomic. The Youtube layout on Safari is completely different and is currently missing options to pair.

Re: Control TiVo YouTube using an Android device
Well the YouTube app on Android does remember the pairing - so as long as you've got the app running it'll work without any setup again

Re: Control TiVo YouTube using an Android device
I've just tried it on iPad and it worked straight away from the default Safari browser, seems to keep the pairing as well. Great find as it makes it much more user friendly, thanks.

Re: Control TiVo YouTube using an Android device
Have you got the new Youtube layout on your iPad as I have so don't get that four square button to select a TV device.
Ben I would say change the title I had no idea this was possible and really makes the Youtube app so much easier to use.

Re: Control TiVo YouTube using an Android device
It would be have to be one of the mods that would need to change it
