Cheapest network for 0844 calls on PAYG?

Pretty much as title said. I can't use the apps as they can't find alternative numbers. The number I'm calling will be a security check in every hour and will cost 35p on Three. I'll be better off sticking a new sim on payg in my s3 rather than rack up a bill on my s4.

Edit: just found that GG charge 12p it seems, so based on my current shift pattern it'll cost 1.20 per shift rather than 3.50 and about 33 quid a month instead of 90. Already feeling relieved.

If anyone has other suggestions just post away.

What exactly do you mean by "I can't use the apps as they can't find alternative numbers."? What apps are you talking about?

Apps don't find numbers, you dial them. Do you mean the same for dial-through services (e.g. you dial an access number then the number you actually want to connect to)?

Tell the gaffer to provide a phone or they call you.

That really has nothing to do with what most people consider "calling apps" hence the confusion.

If Skype over 3 still works the same as it used to it's exactly the same reliability as an ordinary phone call. Because it is an ordinary phone call.

But the cheapest is really to use the BT SmartTalk app. That way you pay the standard BT Landline rate - 0.5p a minute to 5p a minute depending on the number. Though if the call is short, then the connection fee on BT might outweigh the extra per minute cost on Skype.
