USB and other items > > > > >
Have they enabled the USB port yet at the rear of the box ?
Does anybody have any idea when will it be done ?
I have several films and concerts held on the box and I now want to record them to dvd.
I was going to use the USB port but I been told some time ago that it is not enabled.
Failing all of the above is HDMI the only route to go ? > > >

Probably never, they need to get permission off the rights holders to enable that port as being able to put it on USB will make it a hell of a lot easier for people to get shows online.
HDMI or DVD is the only way to go really!

I doubt they'll ever do it.

I think the reason they won't enable USB is simply that: It will enable people to make perfect copies of what is on their Tivo very quickly. I doubt it matters one way or the other to Virgin, but the various content providers will not be happy if the Tivo gives people an easy way to rip content from the service and do what they want with it.

HDMI will work, as long as you have a device that can break the copy protection method used

Hi Stuart
Thanks for that.
It looks like it is HDMI then, I already have a "Copy Decoder" & a "Video Converter".
I will hook them up and see how I get on.
Thanks for your help.
Oh yes why were you sorry ?

The USB is not disabled - although it may not do what you want.
The USB on mine homes the slide remote dongle.

And I may be wrong, but a good while ago, I think I read that someone had got a USB remote keyboard to work on it.
