BBC HD 5.1 Sound

Anyone else having problems with 5.1 sound on BBC HD. One minute it's working the next not. Other channels pick the signal up straight away but when switching channels back and forth BBC HD looses it signal to stereo.

Re: BBC HD 5.1 Sound

I didn't notice it before but now I have set up a surround sound 5.1 system , I know what you mean. I put on BBCHD to watch some programmes and the sound crackled occasionally as it went in out of 5.1 to 2.1 and back again.
I knew it wasn't my system as I watched a film on SKY movies and the 5.1 was fantastic and even on SKY sports was in 5.1. Sometimes BBCHD is perfect but other times not. I will have to monitor it over the next few weeks.

Re: BBC HD 5.1 Sound

Checked again today still no 5.1 for BBC's main channel. Anyone receiving 5.1 feed. Can anyone from VM comment? Sensory deprevation is killing me
Rebooted the Tivo to make sure too.

Re: BBC HD 5.1 Sound

I've received 5.1 once or twice, there was a problem with the feed a while ago which may have caused the problem, best phone and ask if the feed can be restored!

Re: BBC HD 5.1 Sound

It's been touched on many times before, not every program on bbc1 HD is 5.1, some are, some are 2.0 and some are flagged as being 5.1 when they are actually 2.0, all this can cause problems with your auto switching.

Problem is none are 5.1 at the moment. BBC2 HD works fine. Can't figure it out?

Noted that BBC1 HD is not transmitting in Dolby. It's just stereo all programmes but not Dolby.

Re: BBC HD 5.1 Sound

Could be. Just wish someone would verify this so I don't spend time trying to figure if it's my system which I know it isn't now.

Just for my education - what form does this flag take? Is it written somewhere, is it encoded with the signal or is it something else?

Re: BBC HD 5.1 Sound

Why exactly can't Red Bee deliver the signal? It's functioning perfectly well on BBC2 HD. Can they swap BBC2 HD and BBC1 HD around then please as more people watch the later.

It's a software issue related to the regionalisation of BBC1, so swapping with BBC2 wouldn't help.
