Virgin Media signs Christine Ohuruogu to be part of advertising campaign.

Virgin Media has signed World Champion sprinter Christine Ohuruogu to join Mo Farah and Usain Bolt in its advertising campaign as part of the marketing battle for broadband customers with rivals including BSkyB and BT.

The pay-TV and broadband operator is understood to have signed a six-figure sponsorship deal with Ohuruogu, which will run until the end of next year, in the wake of her stunning on-the-line win in the 400m at the World Athletics Championships in Moscow last week.

This just seems like a waste of money to me, does anyone really care that these people will be in the adverts ? all i wanna know is what something can do, i don't care who is in the damm advert!

am i the only one thinking like this ?

Or... cut the advertising, fewer new customers sign up, maybe need more price increases?

If advertising didn't work, they wouldn't spend the money.

Maybe it is a waste of money but would these companies use the like of Usain Bolt or Bruce Willis if they did not feel there was a monetary benefit from these adverts.

Don't forget that existing customers are paying a lot of money to pay for the ads, just so that 'new' customers can get a good sign on deal

But remember when we were new customers we also benefited from those deals.

Re: Virgin Media signs Christine Ohuruogu to be part of advertising campaign.

Advertising is important for a communications business such as Virgin Media. The budget for it is in a separate pot to other departments. Sustained campaigns with themes and celebrities do work to gain new customers and to compete with other businesses.
