National Broadband
We get a very varied service from National Broadband, sometimes slowing to a crawl and never fast enough for what has now become the international norm for carrying out a wide variety of tasks online. In EU broadband standards generally, it's a lousy deal at 19 euros a month.
As subscribers like us do not seem to have a formal contract with 3 for NBS services, how can we hold their feet to the fire to get more acceptable service levels? As things stand at present, they seem to be in default over their contract with the government, exploiting their monopoly situation and holding back the role that decent broadband can play in Ireland's social and economic development, particularly with regard to rural areas. Maybe if 3 and their government monitors performed better, we wouldn't have fracking as the only realistic hope for employment and some easing of the emigration which is destroying much of the family/social structure in rural Ireland!
