4G auction raises less than expected
A whole lot less than expected.

Telecoms regulator Ofcom has raised £2.34bn from its auction of 4G mobile spectrum, less than expected.
The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) had forecast that the auction would raise £3.5bn for the Treasury.

Re: 4G auction raises less than expected
I can't see there being as much of an uptake with this. Almost everywhere I use my phone for more than a minute has some sort of wi-fi connection so it's kind of lost on me.

For me its just one big con to try to get people to upgrade and fleece them out of even more money.

Well that's capitalism all over really, nothing wrong with that. If they have a product that people are willing to pay for then why not offer it. The question though is whether or not it will be worth it.

Re: 4G auction raises less than expected
Everything Everywhere messed up their offering but having much higher prices and data caps. People may be willing to pay more for 4G but not if you're effectively killing it's advantages but having a 1Gig data cap.

aye no doubt about it dont think there is massive desire upgrade. Due to costs and restrictions to customers.
My concern is osbourne already budgeted for 3.5bn windfall. That shortfall going to have to be found. Where osbourne going to magic to recover 1.16bn. NHS, Welfare, military?
