Here we go - leading to a General Strike
http://news.sky.com/story/1060998/ci...-on-budget-day
Announced today, l can see this going to to lead to a general strike, the government are saying that this is a trivial matter, I don't, and this time l will strike for the first time in my life.
My bills have all gone up, and yet my wages have not gone up for three years, my pension payments have gone up, we are now counting the pennies and no longer able to afford luxuries.
My rent has gone up to nearly £180.00 per week for a council property, we have had to make cuts, and yet my family is being severely effected by the increased in bills ie petrol, electricity while the people that run these companies are giving them self big bonuses, and now today we find another company on the High Street is axing jobs.
We have the budget in a few weeks time and l am sure it will be even worse than what we are expecting.
Someone has to say enough is enough, What we don't see is MPs saying we will take a pay cut to ease the financial problems.
For the first time ever - l will strike

They are lucky to have a job, many would love a job.
They should knuckle down and work.

Yes and be walked all over, bloody plebs don't know how lucky they are. Fortunately the days of serfdom are long gone in this country and if people want to stand up for the rights then good luck to them imo.

Re: Here we go - leading to a General Strike
What a bizarre thread. I'm not sure Arthur quite understands what a general strike actually is, how one would come about and what the implications of one would be, given the much-reduced trade union membership since the days when mass walk-outs were all the rage.

Re: Here we go - leading to a General Strike
There won't be a General strike. There is unlikely to even be a protest of any substance.
This is another thread that will probably deteriorate into the usual suspects proclaiming their anti-union stance..... I'll get my union bingo card out. Eyes down for the 70s First mention of Thatcher and I've got a full house.

So the public "servants" go on strike. They should think themselves lucky to have a well paid secure job and pension from the public purse.

If you think ANY public job (at least below senior civil service management) is secure then frankly you are a little naive.

Re: Here we go - leading to a General Strike
My rent two years ago was £130 per week and in that time it has gone up to £180 per week.
I live in a normal three bedroom, but we have high overheads in this house, our electricity has gone up, council tax etc.
We have to find the cheapest place for fuel, as in my job l need my car, and yes l do work in the public sector, and l am fuming that the coalition come out with all this bedroom tax stuff and not once do they say right we will introduce a tax for the rich.
Yes, there are people that will take a job on a low wage, but how can you live on £15/16.000 per year. And the government have today given 100 million pounds to the Afgahan government to look for gems etc.
